A curved screen and a closer release date: iPhone 7 rumour mill continues to spin

The iPhone rumour mill is beginning the new year with plenty of strength behind it, showing tech pundits are still not sick of guessing what Apple will do next.

The new rumours have the new iPhone 7 model with a ‘curved’ or flexible screen according to ITWire, which reports the US Patent and Trademark Office last week granted Apple a patent for a devices with “flexible touch-sensitive layers, and flexible display cover layers”.

The feature is widely seen as a move to mitigate the issues of ‘bedgate’, which saw the tech giant flooded with complaints and bad press over the ease at which some iPhone 6’s bent – not on purpose.

Other rumours suggest the phone will come in new colours (such as slate grey) and feature a projector, a 3D display that doesn’t require glasses to view, a lighter weight and 4GB of RAM, according to Design & Trend.

There is also plenty of speculation Apple will skip the releases of an iPhone 6C, which it would have traditionally launched after the release of the iPhone 6, and head straight into a September release of the iPhone 7. Other reports suggest Apple will release both the 6C and the 7 at the same time.
