As I sit here on a plane writing this blog, I know my mobility solution has created value for me because I can turn travel time into work time. The days of reams of highlighted A4 paper to edit on the run are over and I can spend travel time creating content.
I also know the published apps on my server will, once I get off the plane, give me full access to every file and application I use on my servers in the office. My cloud software solutions will work for me and I will be able to spend the day in meetings and doing real work from anywhere along the way.
I can print documents on my office printer and have them collected and posted by staff or I can grab them, convert them to PDF files, and send them electronically.
Meanwhile, my staff will handle over 100 job tickets today. I will be able to view the dashboards and know that the jobs are being assigned and dealt with in a timely manner. If they are not, I can make a video call via Lync from my Windows 8 tablet and have a face-to-face meeting with my service delivery manager to ask what help is required. During the meeting we can share documents of all sorts to ensure it is a rich communication based on data.
Meanwhile I have an outsourced telemarketer making appointments for me to meet new prospects. She has secure access to my calendar via the web and can place appointments directly into my calendar. No need to call me and check, just book it in with confidence because my calendar is right up to date, synced across all my devices from phone to tablet to PC. Of course, she will check my prior appointments and use Google Maps to check travel time between meetings so I will have a workable schedule.
The key here is I am getting great value from my ongoing investment in technology. It enables me to do more in less time and empower others to interact with me in productive ways.
How are you maximising your productivity with technology?
