Despite preventative measures to combat online fraud 36% of Australian businesses have been attacked by fraudsters, according to research published today by Experian.
The research found worldwide data breaches have provided highly organised criminal rings with the data they need to impersonate legitimate customers and perpetrate fraudulent transactions on an unprecedented scale.
Over half of the businesses surveyed believe they are at high risk of fraud while
17% say they are attacked by fraudsters on a daily basis.
“Similar to other markets around the world, we can expect to see a rise in the level of fraud attacks and an expansion in the types of fraud perpetrated on Australian businesses and their customers in the coming year,” Jeff Price, managing director of Experian Decision Analytics, said in a statement.
The research surveyed 200 Australian businesses.
