Are you addicted to video games? Can’t bear to be parted from your console? If so, you may be a target customer of US tech company Spawn Labs’ HD-720 box, a gadget that lets users stream games from their PS3, PS2, Xbox 360 or Gamecube to any location in the world with broadband access.
The HD-720 box, unveiled at San Fransisco’s 2009 TechCrunch 50 conference, also lets users give their friends online access to their home gaming system – enabling gamers to play on their home console with friends who aren’t even there with them.
The device plugs into your home console and lets you access any video game disc already inside it, as well as games stored on the console’s hard drive, at speeds of 30 frames per second and resolutions of up to 720p.
The HD-720 box sells for US $199, with an extra US$30 controller adaptor for each type of console controller you connect it to. It is compatible with most laptops and some notebooks currently on the market.
If a high definition broadband connection is not available, the box can also show games in standard definition.
