Last week internet giant Google started issuing invitations to users who have expressed interest in using its new voicemail and call management system, Google Voice.
“We are happy to share that Google Voice is beginning to open up beyond former GrandCentral users,” said Google Voice product managers Craig Walker and Vincent Paquet in a blog post. “If you requested an invitation on the Google Voice site or previously on GrandCentral, keep your eye out for an invite email.”
Google Voice provides users with a new phone number that is used to route calls to six other numbers, as well as offering an online voice mail inbox. The service also allows users to screen and block calls, and receive emails and SMS messages when voicemails are left.
Users can personalise greeting messages and determine which contacts can call certain numbers within certain time brackets.
The service is now set to be introduced to the US shortly, but Google has announced no plans to introduce the service to Australia yet.
