Your next pizza may come by drone thanks to this Aussie startup

Drone delivery Flirtey

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises has commenced pizza by drone deliveries to select customer homes around the world thanks to Australian-founded startup Flirtey.

This week, a New Zealand couple became the first people in the world to receive their pizza order by drone.

Flirtey, which developed the food delivery drone for Domino’s, is one of the world’s fastest growing drone delivery services and has even done work with NASA.

The company says the new delivery system uses advanced autonomous technology, complex safety systems and special packaging to adapt to varying weather conditions and flight paths.

Flirtey drones are built with carbon fibre and 3D printed parts.

“We are moving closer and closer to widespread store-to-door drone delivery,” Flirty chief executive Matthew Sweeny says.

“To conduct these deliveries in an urban environment while delivering a hot, fresh pizza, is a validation of our delivery system that assures Flirtey is prepared for mass market deliveries around the globe.”
