Twitter CEO avoids focusing too much on money

Twitter chief executive Dick Costolo has claimed in a new interview he thinks of the company’s revenue as “oxygen”, saying it’s “essential to life…but not the first thing you think about in the morning”.

Speaking with Katie Couric at The Atlantic’s Aspen Ideas Festival, Costolo also said he wants to avoid “short-term thinking”.

According to TechCrunch, Costolo also said he didn’t want to comment on what the company may have learned from Facebook’s own IPO, which was riddled with problems.

And like so many other tech companies, Costolo said he tries to make Twitter an interesting place to work.

According to Costolo boring work places are not inspiring.

“That’s not a fun place to go to work in the morning. It’s not particularly innovative.”
