The world will end tomorrow… apparently

On Wednesday the entire world as we know it will be destroyed, sucked into a man-made black hole… at least, that’s what some are saying.

On Wednesday the entire world as we know it will be destroyed, sucked into a man-made black hole… at least, that’s what some are saying.

The first operations of the world’s largest particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collidor (LHC) located at the Swiss-French border, are due to commence this week. The machine allows atoms to slam against each other to reconstruct how matter reacted during the “big bang”, the supposed beginning of the universe.

But some human rights defenders, including German biochemist Otto Rossler, claim the machine will create black holes that will eventually expand and destroy the earth.

A claim was made to the European Court of Human Rights that the LHC experiments violated the right to life.

But the Institue of Physics in Britain claims there is no need to worry just yet. “The safety of collisions at the Large Hadron Collider was studied in 2003 by the LHC Safety Study Group, who concluded that they presented no danger.”
