Technicians have repaired a key fibre optic cable servicing central and northern Queensland as works continue to restore telecommunications services to the flood affected areas of the state.
Technicians arrived by helicopter to replace more than a kilometre of the coastal fibre optic cable at Colosseum, north of Bundaberg, that has contributed to service outages in flood-affected areas.
The cable, damaged as a result of the recent floods, has contributed to an outage of landline, mobile and broadband services in parts of the Sunshine State, including disruptions to access to the triple zero emergency service.
People impacted by the floods are encouraged to check the official Telstra Facebook, Twitter, and the Service Status page for updates about services if possible, as well as local news services.
