Sony’s Google Drive competitor alive

Sony has followed in the footsteps of Google Drive by launching the PlayMemories Online cloud storage service.

The company intends the new service to integrate with its smart TVs, smartphones, computers, tablets, and games consoles.

Key features of the new service include its browser management, as well as the ability to convert and stream videos stored on the service to compatible devices.

As with its competitors in an increasingly saturated market, the new service offers a free 5GB package, as well as apps for Android and Apple iOS.

The new service is the first part of the One Sony strategy announced by new CEO Kazuo Hirai in the aftermath of a record $US6.4 billion loss.
