Samsung seeking partnerships with Toyota and Nissan

Samsung is reportedly in talks with Japanese auto giants Toyota and Nissan in a bid to secure major contracts in the auto sector, according to Korean press reports.

The Korea Times reports a senior source within the South Korean electronics giant has leaked details of high-level talks that would see Samsung entering the automotive computer market.

“Samsung Electronics has detailed business plans to develop chips to power networking systems in vehicles, as well as chips to be used in car-infotainment systems,” the source said.

“Working-level discussions are under way.

“The automotive industry is Samsung’s next target in chips because they need trusted chip suppliers that can guarantee output commitment, better pricing and on-time delivery. Samsung is positioned well, therefore, discussions with those Japanese car makers are in progress.”
