Key Samsung Galaxy S4 details leak to the media

Samsung is planning to announce the Galaxy S4 smartphone at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress in March 2013, according to Korean press reports.

Citing unnamed officials at the company, the Korea Times reports the new device will “definitely use” LTE networks, use Samsung’s quad-core Exinos processors, Google’s Android smartphone platform and retain a “rectangle with rounded corners” form factor.

The sources claim the device is also likely to use an OLED display with the screen size expanding slightly, from 4.8 inches to 5 inches.

In July, reports surfaced that the Korean electronics giant aims to begin production on bendable displays this year.

However, due to production problems encountered by Samsung Display, the smartphone giant has not yet decided whether the new device will use a flexible screen.

The leaks come after crisis meetings at the company, following a devastating $US1 billion loss to Apple in a US patent infringement lawsuit. Apple is seeking a US ban on the company’s flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone in a separate patent infringement lawsuit.
