US president-elect Obama is known for embracing technology. The soon-to-be president has broadcast speeches on YouTube and encouraged submitting ideas over the internet for his new administration.
But he looks set to lose one of the most important pieces of technology he has – his BlackBerry.
While he legally is allowed to keep using the device, the Presidential Records Act requires all emails and electronic communications to be officially archived. These archives are completely disclosable and could very easily leak to the public.
But he shouldn’t suffer tech withdrawal – sources say Obama will be keeping his Macbook Pro on the Oval Office desk.
