Salaries for IT professionals are set to rise a staggering 15% next year, following increases already seen in the last 12 months, a new survey shows.
The 2008-09 Michael Page International Technology Salary & Employment Forecast says salaries are forecast to rise 5% to 8% across the entire technology sector, while IT professionals should see an increase of 15%.
And while the rise in salaries is set to occur across the country, the survey also encourages IT workers to look to WA for opportunities due to the mining boom.
The survey also shows employment opportunities are on the rise, with 62% of employers looking to hire more workers, and 7% of businesses planning to increase their headcount by more than 10.
However, the survey also warns employers they need to encourage more workers to stay by offering more money, career advancement opportunities and flexible work arrangements.
