Social photography service Instagram has managed to lose half of its daily users in just one month.
According to data from AppStats, republished by the International Business Times, the Facebook-owned social photography service boasted around 16.3 million daily active users as of mid-December.
Facebook purchased the company for $US1 billion in April last year.
However, as of January 14, that number had dropped by more than half to just 7.6 million daily users.
The large drop in user base came after a decision to update the service’s terms of service, with the company forced to clarify that it was not claiming ownership of its users’ photography.
