Opera Software has announced a new version of its Opera web browser, called Opera Ice, for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.
According to Pocket Lint, the new web browser will be released in February and will ditch all buttons in favour of an entirely gesture-driven interface.
The company will also use the WebKit rendering engine, used in Apple Safari and Google Chrome to power the browser, rather than the company’s own Presto engine.
The company hopes the new browser will fill the void between its cut-down Opera Mini browser and its fully-fledged desktop browser, allowing it to compete against rivals such as Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
The company is also considering a version for Windows in the future.
