Google remained the online search market leader in the US with a marketshare 66.7% in May, but Microsoft’s Bing is slowly catching up, reaching 17.4% of the market.
The comScore figures also show the other top five search engines were Yahoo! (11.9% marketshare), Ask (2.7%) and AOL (1.3%).
In total, Americans searched the web 20 billion times during May, with13.3 billion of those queries on Google, 3.4 billion on Microsoft/Bing, 2.3 billion on AOL, 547 million on Ask and 266 million on AOL.
In total, 68.6% of searches were powered by Google, while 26.7% were powered by Microsoft/Bing.
