Google postpones major Android smartphone launch event due to Hurricane Sandy

Google has announced it is postponing a major product launch event in New York due to fears over Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to make landfall on the Atlantic coast of the US.

SmartCompany recently reported that according to LG’s head of mobile product planning, Amit Gujral, the LG-built Galaxy Nexus 4 smartphone and a new version of Android were scheduled to be launched at the event, which was scheduled for October 29, New York time.

However, according to Phandroid, the event has been postponed due to the risk of disruptions as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

“We are cancelling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more,” Google said in a statement.
