Gamers make the buying decisions

Computer game players have a reputation more as nerdy introverts rather than opinion leaders, but apparently they have a strong influence over technology purchasing decisions in their household according to a ZiffDavis report covered by Marketing Charts.

The survey of close to 1000 gamers shows that, unsurprisingly, they tend to be technology enthusiasts. Almost all of the gamers surveyed said they are enthusiastic about and comfortable with new technology and consumer electronics, with 76% saying they would be described by their friends as being into the latest technology and the first among their friends to buy new technology gadgets.

Gamers are also very into movies and music – 71% say they are likely to buy an iPod in the next six months, 91% watch a DVD movie at least once a month and 76% see a movie once a month.
