Employees just want to have fun

Money isn’t the most important thing in determining an employee’s level of job satisfaction, a new survey by human resources firm Astor Levin has found.

According to its survey of more than 1000 Australian workers, a majority (59%) of workers said having enjoyable and stimulating work to do was the most important factor in job satisfaction.

By comparison, only 26% said earning more of that sweet, sweet moola was what kept them coming into work everyday.

Having said that, even if a business does what it can to ensure its employees are satisfied, there is no guarantee of keeping them in the current skill shortage environment. A quarter of those surveyed said they were planning to leave their current job even though they are satisfied with their current pay and work.
