Facebook is encouraging its employees to switch to Android, launching an internal programme called “Droidfooding”, in order to get a balance of users across the leading smartphone platforms.
According to TechCrunch, the social media giant has traditionally given its employees iPhones to use as work phones.
However, senior managers have grown increasingly concerned by IDC figures showing two-thirds of the world’s smartphones are powered by Android, with the trend likely to continue until 2016.
With a larger proportion of its potential user base using Android over iPhone, having most of its workforce using iPhones risks creating a disconnect between Facebook’s employees and its consumers.
