Samsung could be looking at reintroducing the clamshell form factor, with Korean press reports pointing to a possible Android-based flip phone.
According to a report in Korean tech site DDaily, the new smartphone will be named the Samsung Galaxy Folder and run the most recent version of Android, 4.2 Jellybean.
The new smartphone will support LTE networks and is set to debut across all three major South Korean carriers – SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus.
However, at this point it is unclear whether Samsung intends to release the device outside Korea.
Despite featuring LTE support and the most recent version of Android, the smartphone is being described as a ‘low-end’ device targeted at people who aren’t comfortable using a touchscreen phone without a keypad.
Meanwhile, according to Blog of Mobile, the internal part model numbers for the device are SHV-E400S and SHV-E400K and is set to feature both a touchscreen display and a full numeric keyboard.
The device is also believed to use a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, feature a WVGA display with a screen resolution of 400 by 800.
