Casio has announced retail Point Of Sale (POS) system based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which it intends to launch in the middle of this year.
According to PhoneArena, Casio announced the Android-based Casio VX Tablet POS system at the Retail Business Technology Expo in Earls Court, London.
The company cites several advantages to a retail POS being based on the Android platform, including easily sending receipts via SMS text message or email, integrating with retail back-ends by installing apps, and supporting mobile payments from smartphones by connecting near field communications (NFC) card readers.
Casio has also stated that the new tablets will be exclusively marketed at its retail customers, and that it’s not planning to compete in the consumer tablet market against Samsung, Motorola and HTC.
