In a California court filing, Apple has requested its $US1 billion damages award against Samsung be increased by a further $US700 million.
The filings come after a Californian jury found Samsung had “wilfully” infringed Apple’s patents in late August.
According to FOSS Patents, the total of the jury’s August 24 damages award of $US1,049,393,540 with Apple’s requested enhancements, supplemental damages and prejudgment interest would be $US1,756,121,384.
In addition to the increased damages, Apple has also filed for a US sales ban on the following Samsung smartphones:
“Captivate, Continuum, Droid Charge, Epic 4G, Exhibit 4G, Fascinate, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Prevail, Galaxy S, Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy S II (AT&T), Galaxy S II (i9000), Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Tab 10.1 (WiFi), Gem, Indulge, Infuse, Mesmerize, Nexus S 4G, Replenish, Vibrant, Galaxy S II (T-Mobile), Transform, Galaxy S Showcase, Galaxy S II (Epic 4G Touch), Galaxy S II (Skyrocket).”
Apple’s filing also requests a US sales ban on any Samsung product “with a feature or features not more than colourably different from any of the infringing feature or features in any of the infringing products”.
