Apple’s marketshare will fall over the next four years but overall volumes will grow, according to a new report from Gartner.
The report anticipates that Apple’s marketshare is likely to fall from 66% in 2011 to around 46% in 2016.
However, the worldwide annual volume of tablet computer sales is anticipated to increase from around 60 million in 2011 to 369 million in 2016, meaning that overall volumes are likely to increase from around 39 million (2011) to 169 million (2016).
The report also anticipates that annual Android tablet sales will surge from 17 million (2011) to 137 million (2016), with third-place Microsoft accounting for 43 million sales in 2016.
