Only around 7% of CEOs and senior executives currently have an account on the LinkedIn social network, a new survey has revealed, with the number falling to just 3% in the Asia Pacific region.
According to ZDNet, the CTPartners Executive Search survey polled 469 companies from Fortune‘s 2012 Global 500 list in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific region.
Of the 178 Asia-Pacific companies surveyed, only five had a CEO with a LinkedIn account, including one CEO within Australia.
The survey also found that the executives with LinkedIn accounts tended to be male or work for companies outside the ICT sector.
Results from China are also skewed by the popularity of local social networks.
The survey comes after a recent report in LeadingCompany found that company pages were still underutilised by business.
