Google may bring Android to desktops

A new patent application suggests Google may be working on a way to bring its Android operating system to desktops.

According to the blog Patently Apple, Google has filed a new patent that indicates they’re looking at bringing Android to desktop.

According to the patent, certain applications and operating systems have been designed around a touchscreen, but as the blog points out, it may be good for use systems to be put on more traditional devices, such as desktops, using a trackpad.

“Trackpad operations may be directly mapped to touchscreen events, which may be processed by applications that may be configured to process such events.”

“In such fashion, a computing device may be capable of processing touchscreen-based events for applications that are configured to process such events during execution on the computing device, regardless of whether the computing device includes or is coupled to a touchscreen.”
