HTC “dropped the ball” on 4G, missed estimates

HTC chief financial officer Winston Yung has admitted the company has “dropped the ball” with its “4G” LTE handsets, after missing analysts’ estimates.

According to ZDNet, Yung admitted that the company’s LTE handsets, such as the HTC Velocity 4G, are too thick and suffer from poor battery life.

Poor sales of LTE handsets have contributed to the Taiwanese phone maker missing analysts’ estimates for the last quarter.

The HTC Velocity 4G was recently launched as the first handset on Telstra’s “4G” LTE network.
