Tech giant Apple has reportedly reached a settlement with Australian production company JIgsaw Entertainment over a soundboard app created by a teenage developer using sound-bites of an actor impersonating Mark “Chopper” Read.
The case has been ongoing for months, with JIgsaw Entertainment claiming an infringement of its intellectual property after the sounds were taken from a television show, and then used as part of the app which was put on the App Store.
Counsel for Jigsaw Entertainment was contacted by SmartCompany, who confirmed while the case has been settled, the details remain confidential. However, Fairfax has reported Apple retrieved the money made by the app and returned it to Jigsaw.
Fairfax reports the settlement was made earlier this month, with a Federal Magistrate ordering the terms remain confidential.
Last year, Jigsaw chief executive NIck Murray told SmartCompany he believed the case was a “moral crusade”.
