VoIP company Skype has released a new type of app directory, providing users with the ability to download applications using the Skype interface.
Skype lists all the different apps that are available, and provides information on different features and technical requirements, similar to other app stores.
The move has been welcomed by app developers. VodBurner chief executive Jeremy Hague spoke to TechCrunch, saying that “having a director makes life easier for us”.
“Giving Skype users the ability to rate apps, comment about apps, is totally new to Skype and will really help app developers get their apps out to the massive Skype community.”
While there are only about 20 apps listed on the directory right now, more are expected soon.
