Global group buying giant Groupon has purchased Chicago-based software development firm Obtiva.
“We’ve been working side-by-side with our Obtiva colleagues since way back in 2009, when Groupon had a handful of engineers,” Groupon director of communications Julie Mossler wrote on the company’s blog. “We decided to stop living in sin and tie the knot.”
“We’re constantly impressed by how capable Obtiva developers are and we’re really looking forward to expanding the team.”
Obtiva is six-years-old, and announced the deal on its website and Twitter account. “While we aren’t accepting new business at the moment, we will continue to service existing clients,” it said.
