iPod Touch 3G coming in September

Apple may be preparing to launch a version of the iPod Touch in September that will run on a 3G connection, new reports have claimed.

According to 9to5Mac, the update will come as part of a product refresh later this year that will also see the iPhone and iPad upgraded with new models.

iPod Touch devices are only able to connect to the internet through wireless networks. Adding 3G capability would put them in the same realm of devices such as the iPad and other tablets, which can access broadband networks.

The rumour also lines up with separate reports that Apple is planning a second, cheaper version of the iPhone to be released alongside the iPhone 5.
