Google’s Chrome web browser now controls 20% of the browser market as it continues to beat off Firefox and Internet Explorer, new figures show.
StatCounter figures show that Chrome’s market share is now seven times the amount it had two years ago.
IE now has just 50% of the browsing market, falling from 59% to 44$ in two years, with Firefox down from 30% in 2011 to 28%.
Google has attempted to position Chrome as a speedier option to Firefox, providing more regular updates as well. Mozilla has adopted this strategy and is promising to update its browser software much more often.
