Social network Twitter is apparently so interested in the idea of photo-sharing that it may launch its own service within weeks.
According to All Things Digital, Twitter chief executive Dick Costolo is preparing to launch the service this Wednesday at D9 in California.
It is understood that Twitter wants to take advantage of the vast array of users who use pictures in their tweets but currently have to host them on separate services.
These separate services actually make quite a bit of money by putting ads on the pages of hosted pictures. With Twitter currently examining ways to further monetise its business, using a native photo-sharing service could deliver a boost to its bottom line and help contain the Twitter ecosystem.
