Internet giant Google will launch a mobile payments system that will allow users of Android phones to make contactless transactions, according to a new report from Bloomberg.
Google is expected to debut the system as early as this week, with retailers including Subway and American Eagle to allow users to make transactions with their phones.
Both Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal have reported the system is in place, although at this point it is not known whether the trial will expand beyond New York.
However, Bloomberg reported back in March that the trial would take place in a number of different cities across the country.
The move comes as Jack Dorsey’s start-up Square launched a mobile payments and wallet system to accompany its original card-reader offering earlier this week.Internet giant Google will launch a mobile payments system that will allow users of Android phones to make contactless transactions, according to a new report from Bloomberg.
