Sony still investigating privacy breach

Entertainment and technology giant Sony has said in an interview with the New York Times that it is still investigating the privacy breach that brought down its PlayStation network.

“We still have a lot of investigating to do to find out how this happened, but we’re not there yet,” said chief executive Howard Stringer.

The breach itself has highlighted just how serious data leaks can be for huge, multi-national companies. Legislators in several countries are still investigating the breach to see if Sony did all it could to warn customers.

Kazuo Hirai has also told the Times that the company has created new security positions within the company, and that there are steps being taken in order to avoid another breach.

“In every level of the company we are examining security,” Stringer said. “From televisions to eBooks, and onwards.”
