A Russian blogger is reporting software giant Microsoft is considering purchasing the phone business of manufacturing giant Nokia.
The blogger, Edlar Murtazin, reportedly claims sources have told him talks will be going ahead this week and that “both companies are in a hurry”.
The rumour comes after both these companies started an alliance earlier this year that would see all Nokia phones come loaded with Windows Phone software.
Such a move would essentially take out Nokia altogether. Now that it will no longer focus on providing the Symbian platform to mobile phones across the world, handing over the phone unit itself would ultimately take one of the largest players out of the market.
