VoIP provider Skype has said in a new regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that its user base has grown by 38% to 145 million average connected users.
The new figures also show that revenue increased by 20% to $US860 million in 2010 from $US719 million in 2009.
The figures come as the company is preparing for an IPO. It originally said the IPO would take place this year, but chief executive Tony Bates has been reported as saying he wants to make sure the company is up to scratch.
The new filing states Skype has 911 employees, and that 63 were added as a result of its acquisition of video service Qik.
In 2010, Skype users made up 207 billion minutes of voice and video calls. In fact, video calls made up 42% of all Skype-to-Skype minutes, the figures show.
