The head of American telco Verizon has claimed sales of the iPhone 4 have been strong ever since its release last month.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Verizon Wireless chief Dan Mead has said while the firm won’t release figures, 60% of all phones sold on launch day were bought online.
“It was a conscious decision to spread the launch over three phases,” Mead said. “If we had not done online, you would have seen a much different flow in the pictures.”
Until last month only AT&T was allowed to carry the iPhone in America. Now an entirely new version of the device has been manufactured so it will work on Verizon’s networks.
