The Plaza hotel in New York is now offering an iPad to each guest in every room and suite that interacts with the room’s various features.
The iPads are running a piece of custom software that allows users to control lights, change their heat and air-conditioning and even order room service.
Along with those features, users can make reservations for local restaurants, request a wake-up call and print boarding passes for a flight.
According to Boy Genius Report, the hotel’s general manager said a previous system “wasn’t sophisticated enough for what we wanted to do”, so it chose the iPad.
The decision comes after a number of restaurants, including some in Australia, have started replacing menus with iPads.
