Google looking for more group buying deals

Internet giant Google is now searching for more companies to acquire in the group buying space, according to a new report from TechCrunch.

The move comes after Groupon reportedly rejected a $US6 billion offer from the internet giant, although the company has neither confirmed nor denied any actual discussions took place.

The new report, which also comes alongside a similar report from the New York Post, claims companies such as LivingSocial and Buy With Me are currently being thrown around as possibilities.

However, LivingSocial recently took investment from Amazon and BuyWithMe has raised over $US21 million of its own money.

TechCrunch pins Whaleshark Media as one possible acquisition – the company recently bought Melbourne-based RetailMeNot.
