AOL has released an update to its web mail client, with the company saying the feature accounts for 45% of all its page views.
The app, called “Project Phoenix”, is currently in a test mode and will launch publically in 2011. The update is part of a greater restructure designed to challenge Google and Facebook.
CNET has reported the new design looks similar to Gmail, with features for quickly writing short emails. It also comes with a new side-bar which allows users to look at previews of emails and attachments.
Users wanting to see the design can request a guest invite on the AOL site.
