Facebook is now the most popular site in the United States, edging out Google according to the latest figures from analytics firm ComScore.
The new figures show American internet users spent 41.1 million minutes on Facebook in August, compared to the 39.8 million minutes spent on Google. Yahoo came in third at 37.7 million minutes.
The firm also said Americans spent nearly 10% of the online time on Facebook, with Google taking up 9.6% of their time combined between Google, Gmail and YouTube, along with other Google sites.
The average time spent on Facebook grew by nearly 10%, according to Nielsen.
The figures come as Facebook’s dominance continues to grow. Last month it confirmed it now has over 500 million users.
