Tech giant Apple has begun to roll out the iOS 4.0.2 software update for iPhone and iPod Touch users, promising to fix a potentially harmful vulnerability.
The company claims the software fixes a vulnerability in the software, which was located in the Safari browser and PDF-reader applications, which allowed iPhones to be jail broken through the browser itself.
The fix comes after the infamous Dev Team released a hack for iOS-based devices that allowed users to jailbreak them just by visiting a website through the browser.
Users often jailbreak their phones in order to install and operate apps that are not approved by Apple’s official team and can often unlock features that Apple’s own official software doesn’t allow.
While jailbreaking the phone’s software isn’t illegal, it does break the user’s warranty and Apple warns users it will not help them fix a broken iPhone that has had its official software tampered with.
