Australian iPhone app reaches number one

A Brisbane man’s simple Fruit Ninja iPhone application has taken the world by storm.

Since its release on April 21, the app has been downloaded by more than 400,000 people worldwide, bringing in at least $330,000 in revenue for the company.

Luke Muscat and his team of designers from Half Brick Studios created the game that involves slicing fruit like a ninja, along with squelchy sound effects.

The app has reached the top five in the Apps Store for 13 countries, and in a further 23 countries it’s in the top 10.

The studio says it hopes to get Fruit Ninja to the top of the app charts and maintain the position.
