About 30% of computer systems in banks, government facilities and utilities are constantly attacked by hackers and over half of those targets are hit multiple times per day, a new McAfee report shows.
”Critical infrastructure owners and operators report that their networks and control systems are under repeated cyber attacks, often from high-level adversaries like foreign nation states,” the new report states.
About 40% of the 600 respondents said there would be a major incident against prominent services in the next year, while 53% believed an attack would occur within the next two years.
”One in five critical infrastructure entities reported being the victim of extortion through cyber attacks or threatened cyber attacks within the past two years,” the report said.
These attacks include hits on financial systems, and facilities which control transport and telecommunications services.
