Microsoft executive Bill Veghte, who worked as the senior vice president for Windows, has announced his resignation.
Chief executive Steve Ballmer wrote an email on Thursday notifying employees of the decision.
“Bill has indicated a desire to run a business in a more end-to-end fashion and continue to explore the new areas in the broad technology, communications and services sectors,” Ballmer said, but Beghte has not written about his personal plans.
His resignation comes after Alex Kochis, former director of the Genuine Software program, announced he would be leaving on New Year’s Eve.
Some analysts have suggested the poor performance of Windows Vista has caused Veghte to seek other opportunities.
