Google executive announces Nexus One for enterprise

Google executive Andy Rubin announced at the CES over the weekend the company’s Nexus One phone could be released in an enterprise version with the possibility of a physical keyboard.

Rubin also said there would be a possibility for the Nexus One to support Microsoft Exchange, but emphasised the phone’s support for Gmail and other Google services.

He also said the online marketplace designed to sell the Nexus One will be expanded in the future with new handsets and a variety of products.

“This is the next phase of Android – taking the newest versions of the product, placing them online, and allowing consumers to purchase them directly,” he said.

“What we’ve learned is that there are more efficient ways of connecting consumers with the phones they’d like to purchase… easier ways.” He said buying a Nexus One is a process in which “No one’s breathing down your neck… No one’s trying to upsell you”.
