Social networking giant Twitter is now beginning to introduce new features for businesses in a move that could precede a new revenue stream for the company.
The site is now in the process of testing its “contributors” area, where companies can set up accounts which employees can share.
These accounts, which would use each company’s own name, are designed for businesses to communicate with customers about upcoming developments and customer service issues.
“It enables users to engage in more authentic conversations with businesses by allowing those organisations to manage multiple contributors to their account,” Twitter said in a post.
“The beta will be released to a limited subset of folks for some time so that we can get an idea of how the features work from a system perspective.”
The move comes as the social network attempts to start earning revenue.
