Sony has introduced a new service for users of its Playstation 3 console, allowing them to watch, record and play television shows on the device.
The PlayTV device connects to a user’s television and console, with a new menu appearing on the PS3’s media bar after installation.
A program guide is included allowing users to view upcoming programs, while users are also able to view one program while recording another on a separate channel. The existing PS3 controller must act as the PlayTV remote.
Additionally, the service integrates with the PlayStation Portable to remotely access PlayTV using any internet connection. Users can view live TV or programs that have already been recorded.
Sony has said it expects the device to sell extremely well in the lead-up to Christmas.
